Review Of : Arthur Christmas

Bookmark and Share

Just watched "ARTHUR CHRISTMAS" last night. (:

Directed by Sarah Smith.

Voiced by James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Ashley Jensen.

Storyline:

This Christmas movie answers every child‟s question how can Santa get around the whole world in just one night? The answer is a gloriously technically advanced North Pole operation, featuring an army of one million field elves, a vast supersonic 'sleigh' and a huge control center under the ice of the North Pole. But even the most high-tech operation has a margin of error... When the gift delivery to just one child in six hundred million is missed, Santa and his super-capable son Steve deem it an "acceptable margin of error". But Arthur Christmas, the misfit youngest son can't bear it. In a crazy rookie mission he sets out to get the last present half way around the globe in the two hours before Christmas dawns. His comical adventure reunites the dysfunctional Santa family and saves the future of Christmas itself.

A very funny & entertaining movie.

Simple storyline. It's kind of like those  films which a classic story is then improvised to adapt with our modern world. (but never gets old. :p)
Hilarious plot.  . ( Watch it & you will know. ;) )
Animation was good since it was a production from Aardman Animations which also did  Flushed Away and Wallace & Gromit movies.

The film really brings up the "Christmas-y mood".

Although I did not watch it in 3D, but I think it looks really good in 3D.
(the flying scenes/the sceneries/the Christmas decor/etc.)

All in all, if you want a good movie to fit the Christmas season with laughter ( like I said, it was hilarious) , watch this! :D

My Rating?

Plot : 4/5

Directed by Chris Miller

Voiced by Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, and Zach Galifianakis.

Storyline :
This film tells the story of Puss in Boots before he met Shrek.
The movie introduces Puss as a wanted outlaw. He goes on an adventure to retrieve the elusive Golden Eggs from the Giant's castle at the same time, escaping from the murderous outlaws; Jack & Jill.  On his journey, he is accompanied with the master thief; Kitty Softpaws & the mastermind; Humpty Alexander Dumpty.

Humpty Dumpty (left) voiced by Zach Galifianakis

Quite entertaining & good movie.

Many people would like to watch this animated film, is because they just love the adorable Puss as first introduced in "Shrek 2".
The movie is more of introducing Puss background (as where he come from, his life & conflicts)

It is an entertaining film. Eventhough I did not watch it in 3D, but from the looks of it, it should've been great in 3D! :)

I've expected much more of this movie though. But, all in all, it's worth a watch! :)

Review Of : Happy Feet 2

Bookmark and Share

Just watched a special screening for the film "HAPPY FEET 2" this morning. ;)

Directed by George Miller

Voices by Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Hank Azaria, Sofia Vergara.

Storyline :
Mumble, has a problem because his tiny son; Erik, is choreo-phobic.  Reluctant to dance, Erik runs away and encounters The Mighty Sven—a penguin who can fly!  Mumble has no hope of competing with this charismatic new role model. But things get worse when the world is shaken by powerful forces.Erik learns of his father’s “guts and grit” as Mumble brings together the penguin nations and all manner of fabulous creatures—from tiny Krill to giant Elephant Seals—to put things right.

Brad Pitt & Matt Damon as Will & Bill the Krill

Elijah Wood as Mumble and Robin Williams as Lovelace & Ramon.

It was as good as the first movie. :)

Well, the first film mostly revolves around Mumble & his life. But in this sequel, it not just revolves around Mumble but around his son;Erik and a few other characters like the newly introduced characters; Will & Bill and a few other characters.

Comparing it from the first movie, this was more of a "musical-kind" and it shows a different perspective of the characters.

Storyline was good.
The plot was quite good eventhough I've expected more. ( the plot was a little drowing the main character's story)
The film's animation was very good. ( the details of the fur, snow & landscape was realistic, esp. in 3D! )
The choice of music in the movie was good too.

All in all, Happy Feet 2 was a good movie. It is highly recommended to be watched in 3D. :)

My Rating?

Plot : 3.25/5
Storyline : 3.5/5
Animation** : 4.75/5  (5/5 in 3D)*
Music/Score** : 4.5/5
OVERALL : 7.75/10.*

*P.S. - Do arrive on time as there will be a short film before the movie called "I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Tat" starring Sylvester & Tweety !

Review Of : The Adventures of Tintin

Just watched " The Adventures of Tintin : The Secrets of the Unicorn

Directed by Steven Spielberg

Voiced by Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost

Synopsis :
Having bought a model ship, the Unicorn, for a pound off a market stall Tintin is initially puzzled that the sinister Mr. Sakharine should be so eager to buy it from him, resorting to murder and kidnapping Tintin - accompanied by his marvellous dog Snowy - to join him and his gang as they sail to Morocco on an old cargo ship. Sakharine has bribed the crew to revolt against the ship's master, drunken Captain Haddock, but Tintin,Snowy and Haddock escape, arriving in Morocco at the court of a sheikh, who also has a model of the Unicorn. Haddock tells Tintin that over three hundred years earlier his ancestor Sir Francis Haddock was forced to scuttle the original Unicorn when attacked by a piratical forebear of Sakharine but he managed to save his treasure and provide clues to its location in three separate scrolls, all of which were secreted in models of the Unicorn. Tintin and Sakharine have one...

Well, because it's directed by Steven Spielberg, many people tend to have expected more from this film.

But for me, all in all, it was a good movie. :)

The plot & storyline was quite good.
Animation was very good because it was motion-captured animation. (like how they did for "Avatar", "Mars Needs Mums" and a few other films)

In my opinion, it was a good movie. Worth watching it. :)
If you're planning to watch it, I suggest it to be in 3D. ( you can feel the effect at certain scenes)

Storyline : 3.5/5

“What would Puss in Boots do?”

Puss in Boots

"So, what would I do if I was Puss in Boots?"

"Elo amigo! "

Well, first, I am honoured to even step into his shoes, umm...I mean boots.hehe.

Okay, back to the question; how would I defeat the bad guys if I was Puss in Boots?

Firstly, he,as a cat; naturally, has 9 lives.

With this special & unique skill. If I ever got shot, killed or whatsoever, ( that is very, very unlikely to happen, since I'm Puss In Boots!) I can still live! And at the same time, the bad guys will be shocked because they think I'm dead, but in actual fact, I'm not! HAHAH. :D

Secondly, I will utilize Puss' "Zorro" trained skills against the bad guys.

"Zorro?" you must be thinking, yes, Puss was actually Zorro's apprentice.
"Well, that's explains my hat, and my sword, but the boots; its mine." Hehe ;)

I have mastered all his moves, his fighting techniques, and everything he taught me.
I will bring on his swashbuckling legacy on till my 9th lifetime ends...that is.

Finally, my last skill; my secret weapon.

"Awwww" then *BANG*  my enemies will get caught by me in a split second! ;]

Yes, I know many of you might know Puss in that scene from Shrek 2 right?
That's the secret weapon. If any situation gets out of hand, he will use the "cute" face skill.

While the bad guys are preoccupied, at the right moment, I will strike and take them down! :D

"Therefore, if I am Puss in Boots, with those skills, I will bring down the bad guys & restore justice to everyone!! "

Even better, with my new found friend; Softpaws, Kitty Softpaws
We will take on the world and we protect the innocent! ;D
